- The construction of a multi-faculty building was started by Himachal Pradesh University in the year 2005. The construction went in for three, or four years and thereafter work remained abandoned since the year 2010. An amount of rupees 88 lakh had been spent on the building.
- Since there was no headway, one of the faculty members of HPU sought information under the RTI act and it was revealed that the land in which the building was constructed was not in the ownership of HP University.
- Mr. Pankaj Kumar a student of Himachal Pradesh University requested PeRGO to file a petition in the Hon’ble High Court of Himachal Pradesh seeking direction to complete the building and fix the responsibility on erring officials. The Hon’ble court took a strict view of the matter And ordered the Constitution of a high-level committee consisting of the principal secretary of home, principal secretary of revenue, Commissioner of Municipal Corporation, and Register Himachal Pradesh University to ensure by all means that the building is completed and made functional by 31-12-2017.
