A number of lawyers practicing in different courts if Himachal Pradesh contacted Pergo for providing them with legal help in approaching the court for framing selection criteria for the appointment of standing counsel in nearly fifty boards and corporations owned by the State of Himachal Pradesh. Accordingly, Pergo prepared a writ petition on their behalf wherein it was submitted that it was no longer open to the state government to appoint the standing counsel in these boards and corporations at their whips. These directions were prepared in terms of the judgment of the Apex court in civil appeal no 3194 of 2016 State of Punjab vs Brijeshwar Singh Chahal. The court had laid down, that for the appointment of law officers of the state and all public instrumentalities, some selection criteria are required to be in place for choosing the most competent Advocates for representing the State. After hearing the petitioner court has issued notices to the state of Himachal Pradesh and all boards and corporations and has directed them to file a reply to the petition.
